Seko Fofana, the Ivorian midfielder who joined Al Nassr from Lens in July 2023, has revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo has been a positive influence on the Saudi club since his arrival in August 2023. Fofana, who played against Ronaldo in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, said that the Portuguese star is a humble and hard-working leader who motivates his teammates to improve.

“Ronaldo is a legend of the game and I have a lot of respect for him. He is very friendly and approachable with everyone in the dressing room. He always gives advice and encouragement to the younger players and he is always ready to help. He is also very professional and dedicated to his training and recovery. He sets an example for us all,” Fofana told Al Arabiya News.

Fofana, who scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists in 112 appearances for Lens, said that he decided to join Al Nassr because of the club’s ambition and vision. He said that he was impressed by the quality of the squad and the facilities, as well as the passion of the fans.

“Al Nassr is a big club with a great history and a bright future. They have a lot of talented players and a good coach. They also have amazing facilities and a huge fan base. I wanted to be part of this project and challenge myself in a new league. I am very happy here and I hope to contribute to the success of the team,” Fofana said.

Fofana, who has eight caps and three goals for Ivory Coast, said that he hopes to win trophies with Al Nassr and qualify for the AFC Champions League. He also said that he dreams of playing in another World Cup with his national team.

“My goals are to win titles with Al Nassr and to play in the Champions League. I think we have a strong team that can compete with anyone in Asia. I also want to represent my country in the World Cup again. It was an amazing experience in 2022 and I hope to repeat it in 2026,” Fofana said.
